Cape May \u2013 February 28, 2024 <\/strong>– Veteran Atlantic County leader Caren Fitzpatrick has come out in support of Joe Salerno in the NJ-02 Democratic primary contest. <\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cJoe Salerno and I share the same goals,\u201d said Fitzpatrick.<\/strong> \u201cWe believe in promoting Democratic values, driving economic growth, and securing a better and more affordable future for South Jersey.\u201d In addition to her role as Linwood\u2019s Municipal Chair for the Atlantic County Democratic Committee, Fitzpatrick served as Commissioner-at-Large for Atlantic County for six years, and has been an executive with Visit Atlantic City, Atlantic City\u2019s destination management organization, since 2014. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Her endorsement fuels the growing momentum of the Salerno campaign. The support of the highly-respected Fitzpatrick signals the broad coalition getting behind him to retake the House seat in NJ-02. Salerno has outraised his opponents by more than 600% and is drawing the attention of political insiders and voters. The Democrats previously lost two races to incumbent Republican Jeff Van Drew, including a 19-point loss in 2022. But it appears the Democratic party could reverse that trend behind Salerno\u2019s rising profile.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cCaren\u2019s endorsement means a lot to me,\u201d said Salerno.<\/strong> \u201cShe has served this district in many roles her entire professional life.
