Caren Fitzpatrick, Linwood Municipal Chair and former Atlantic County Commissioner, endorses Salerno Congressional Bid

Cape May – February 28, 2024 – Veteran Atlantic County leader Caren Fitzpatrick has come out in support of Joe Salerno in the NJ-02 Democratic primary contest.

“Joe Salerno and I share the same goals,” said Fitzpatrick. “We believe in promoting Democratic values, driving economic growth, and securing a better and more affordable future for South Jersey.” In addition to her role as Linwood’s Municipal Chair for the Atlantic County Democratic Committee, Fitzpatrick served as Commissioner-at-Large for Atlantic County for six years, and has been an executive with Visit Atlantic City, Atlantic City’s destination management organization, since 2014.

Her endorsement fuels the growing momentum of the Salerno campaign. The support of the highly-respected Fitzpatrick signals the broad coalition getting behind him to retake the House seat in NJ-02. Salerno has outraised his opponents by more than 600% and is drawing the attention of political insiders and voters. The Democrats previously lost two races to incumbent Republican Jeff Van Drew, including a 19-point loss in 2022. But it appears the Democratic party could reverse that trend behind Salerno’s rising profile.

“Caren’s endorsement means a lot to me,” said Salerno. “She has served this district in many roles her entire professional life. She knows who we are and what this region needs. The issues and opportunities for South Jersey are unique. We can’t continue to be represented by someone who waits to be told what to do by his right-wing handlers.”

Joe Salerno and his wife Della live in Lower Township and raised their family in New Jersey. A successful tech entrepreneur, Salerno was drawn into the political ring by a stream of bad policies restricting women’s fundamental rights, limiting economic opportunities, and failing to address the problems facing South Jersey families. The urgent need for better leadership called him into action. “I’m an engineer by education and by outlook,” said Salerno. “If I see a real problem, I’m not stopping until it’s fixed.”

The Democratic Primary is June 4th.
