Booker made his way to the church at 110 Rev. Dr. Isaac Cole Plaza on Saturday for a rally supporting Lower Township businessman Joe Salerno, a Democrat, in the race for the seat representing the 2nd Congressional District. Salerno is running against incumbent Republican Jeff Van Drew.
““It is an incredible road we have come, but I will tell you this right now, we are at a crossroads yet again. In our country, our democracy is on the line, we literally have people running from the highest office of the land who won’t say that ‘I’ll honor the results of this election,’ who were put on trial.”
Said Salerno, “We are definitely the party of now and the future. No, we are not going back. No, our nation is not some once-great, hollowed-out country. We are growing and maturing and getting stronger, and under President Harris, Vice President Tim Walz, a Democratic Senate and a Democratic House, we will forge ahead.”
Approximately 200 attended the event at Second Baptist Church, including Mayor Marty Small Sr., City Council President Aaron “Sporty” Randolph, Pleasantville Mayor Judy Ward, Pleasantville Council President Carla Thomas, Vice Chairman of the Atlantic County Democrat Committee Thelma Witherspoon, and Unite Here Local 54 President Donna DeCaprio.”
